Forklift Battery's Daily Maintenance
1. Daily Check
1) Electrolyte level:

Check the acid level every week (need to fill distilled water or deionized water every 3 days if the battery is working in high temperatures). If the electrolyte's level is too low, it might cause the battery plate to be destroyed and shorten the battery's service life.

Methods of checking level: Open the vent cap. If the electrolyte is lower than the top of the vent cap, it means the electrolyte level is too low and needs filling with distilled water or deionized water. If the electrolyte is parallel to or higher than the vent cap, it is in the proper position.

2) Connector, connecting wires and cap:

Must check if there is any corrosion between connector pole's joining and leading wires, also check if the cap has any deformation or overheating problem.

3) Appearance:

A dirty battery exterior can cause creepage; the battery surface must be kept clean and dry.

2. Maintenance
1) Fill water:

Fill distilled water or deionized water according to the electrolyte level. Do not fill too much distilled water in order to delay filling time. Too much distilled water will cause lower specific gravity, and the electrolyte could spill over. This situation will corrode the metal box and cables, affecting the battery's service life and causing creepage.

2) Charging:

Gas is produced when charging, so keep a well-ventilated environment with no naked lights. The oxygen and acidic gas produced during charging can affect the surrounding environment. There may be an electric arc when pulling out the charging plug; please cut off the charger's switch before pulling out the plug. Much hydrogen is present after finishing the charge; naked lights are strictly not allowed.

3) Equalizing charge:

The battery should receive an equalizing charge every month (meaning small charging current but long charging time) in order to maintain the battery's capacity and ensure a long service life.

Method of equalizing charge: Charge the battery regularly. After finishing the charge, press the switch for equalizing charge, and charge the battery continuously for 24-36 hours. During the equalizing charge, record every single cell's voltage, density, and temperature. After finishing the equalizing charge, adjust the electrolyte's density and level as per the user manual.

4) Connector, leading wire, cap's maintenance:

Must be operated by a professional engineer.

5) Clean:

The battery surface must be kept clean. Dirt on the surface can cause short circuits, as well as corrosion to the terminals and connectors. Please use a wet cloth to clean the battery to avoid static electricity. If there is no leakage hole at the bottom of the metal box, please avoid using water to clean the battery to prevent excess water from corroding the box. If there is a leakage hole at the bottom of the metal box, you can use water to clean the battery.

3. Storage
1) Storage location:

Do not cause a short circuit. Short circuits can occur after rain; keep the battery in an open-air, shaded, and protected location.

2) Used battery:

Used batteries still retain capacity. Please store them according to the standard storage method.

4. Electrolyte's Operation
1) Check density:

Use an inhalation densitometer to check the density. Do not spill electrolyte out of the battery, and make sure to wear protective clothing.

2) Other operations:

Should refer to a professional engineer, especially when filling the electrolyte.

3) Electrolyte leakage:

Urgent handling is required if the battery turns over or is destroyed.

Dry Batteries or Wet Batteries?
Dry and Wet Batteries Options

A professional operation manual will be provided together with the batteries. Dry batteries and wet batteries are all available depending on the customer's choice.

For dry batteries, customers will need to fill the acid upon receiving the batteries. For wet batteries, customers simply need to charge the batteries before use.

Special Note
  • 1) Proper Use & Charging: Please use the forklift battery according to the operation manual. Do not overcharge or over-discharge the battery, and ensure the forklift battery is charged sufficiently. Charge the battery with constant current every month to avoid reducing the battery's capacity and shortening its cycle life.
  • 2) Weekly Inspections: Check the battery level every week. A professional engineer or trained worker is required for inspection. Ensure the battery's electrolyte level does not drop below the minimum mark to prevent overheating and burnout.
  • 3) Water Quality & Cleanliness: Always use proper forklift battery water for filling. Mixing impurities can cause self-discharge, overheating, or poisonous gas emissions. Do not overfill, and keep the battery surface clean and dry to prevent electrolyte leakage, short circuits, and other related issues.

FAQ
Q What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for these forklift batteries?
The MOQ varies depending on the specific battery model. Please reach out to our sales team with your selected model details for more information.
Q What is the standard payment process and terms for placing an order?
Orders generally follow this process: Inquiry → Quotation → Deposit payment → Production → Completion pictures → Balance payment → Delivery. The standard payment term is by T/T, with a 30% deposit prepaid and the remaining 70% balance settled before shipment.
Q What is the estimated lead time for delivery?
The standard production lead time is typically 7 to 10 days after receiving the initial deposit.
Q Should I choose dry batteries or wet batteries?
Both types are available based on your operational preference. If you select dry batteries, you will need to add the electrolyte acid yourself upon delivery. If you choose wet batteries, they arrive pre-filled and only need a charge before their first use.
Q How often does the forklift battery require distilled water replenishment?
The electrolyte level should be checked weekly. Under standard conditions, top-ups are done based on the level. However, if the battery is working in high-temperature environments, distilled or deionized water may need to be filled as frequently as every 3 days.
Q What is an equalizing charge and how often should it be performed?
An equalizing charge is a low-current, long-duration charge designed to balance cell voltages, preserve capacity, and extend the battery's service life. It should be performed once a month by continuously charging the battery for 24 to 36 hours after a normal charge cycle.
